Bold Goals and the Local 4-H Program
Last month, I shared more about the Beyond Ready Movement, the Bold Goals for Kansas 4-H, and our Strategic Planning. I asked you to reflect on the bold goals for Kansas 4-H and to consider your current role and how you can actively contribute to these goals. As a refresher, the bold goals for Kansas 4-H are:
- Engage every Kansas youth in a 4-H experience at some point during their childhood.
- Increase traditional 4-H enrollment by 10% by 2030.
- Increase engagement beyond traditional enrollment by 10% by 2030.
What programming outreach are you doing in your local programming that is going well? I know you are all doing great programming and reaching the youth of Kansas in a variety of ways. How can you improve upon the outreach and programming efforts you are currently doing? Sometimes the smallest change can make a big difference in your program's reach. While I know we are heading into the busyness of summer, I encourage you to reach out to your volunteers, program development committees, board members, and other stakeholders and seek their feedback and ideas.
These bold goals cannot be achieved by just a few of us, it is going to take all of us to make intentional efforts to grow our programming and membership base. When you think about your local Extension Unit, what must be improved or changed to contribute to these bold goals? What must we do on the regional and state levels? Please send your feedback to me as I’d love to hear from you.
Wishing everyone the best as we enter one of the busiest times of the year.
